Dampers

Dampers help HVAC professionals, ventilation installers, and facility teams manage airflow in supply, exhaust, and ductwork systems. This category includes motorized volume control and shut-off dampers, manual iris dampers for airflow adjustment and measurement, horizontal-mount backdraft dampers for exhaust applications, and fixed non-vented roof curb dampers for roof-mounted ventilation component installations.

Choose a damper based first on its airflow role and installation location. Motorized volume control models provide power-open, spring-close operation with parallel blades for supply or exhaust airflow; flanged versions are intended for wall or curb mounting, while hat channel versions can also be installed in ductwork and include blade seals and an integrated end switch. For simple two-position control, consider the 24V motorized shut-off damper, which opens when powered and returns to normally closed when power is removed. Manual iris dampers are suited to duct airflow balancing, with fixed test points and a fully opening aperture for cleaning access. For horizontal exhaust setups using fans or powered roof ventilators, select a horizontal-mount backdraft damper sized for the opening and consider its galvanized steel frame, aluminum blades, felt seals, and spring-assisted blade operation. Fixed non-vented roof curb dampers provide a curb-mounted connection point with shutter flanges, welded corners, and fiberglass insulation. Confirm the required size, mounting orientation, frame style, material, and whether powered, manual, backdraft, or fixed operation fits the application.
